Moving to Old Town Torrance area with hope moving in Saturday 30th. SO have 2 things need help with: 1.Moving, 2.Build a wall to enclose 6 feet wide archway that will close off living room from dining room, making a new closed dining room to be used as a kids bedroom- PICTURE can be sent if interested. Basically assuming I am renting a Uhaul, I would need day labor for 1-2 hours to simply load/unload truck in a few locations, so doing the load in one location and unload in another location can also be different people: 1 load storage unit into truck in Whittier, 1 load of about 15-20 15 lb boxes in Ventura. (if anyone happens to know of someone in Ventura or wants to come for ride in truck to load) 1 or 2 unloads in Torrance into house would be another person, or same person if wanted to come to do this roundtrip from Torrance to Whittier as well. So if can help in moving: 1. Most likely assuming I rent Uhaul is my plan, as is all over in locations to pick up used appliances and then my storage unit - so let me know which location you can load of either Whittier, or Ventura, or can load in both if joining in the truck AND also what day and times you can do the move with me... with my hope October 30th Saturday as the day. Or let me know if can just unload in Torrance as well, with what days and times available Friday, Saturday or Sunday. What is your cost for your help offered? 2. If you have a 15 ft truck and can do it all, or part of this move, tell me what the cost would be and your available timeline to pick up from Whittier (and if would include getting OC appliances etc possibly? Or if added Ventura stop that additional cost as might just do Ventura another time) 3. Do you also have any skill in attaching gas line to dryer, or water line to fridge, also having the tools to do so... if you are helping in unloading in Torrance? Also tell me what hours and days you can do this from Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Looking for hopefully Saturday and maybe Friday start loading Friday, but would rather be moved in before Sunday if can. HELP WITH WALL- Will send pictures of door archway that needs to be enclosed by a 6 foot wall, if you are able to help. Let me know when you can do it, how long it will take, cost you will charge for the job, do you have truck to get drywall and tools, or do I need to get drywall, and I can only borrow a drill for tools fyi. Looking to have wall built ASAP after moving in Saturday Oct 30th assuming. 6 foot wide doorway, high point in arch 80inches, and both walls straight until 68 inches then both walls curve towards top to make arch. Trim at bottom is 4 inches, and you will need to notch/cut around trim as the existing trim remains, and trim is about 1-1.5 inches out from wall. This makes bottom 5'11" trim to trim, and wall to wall is about 6' to 6'1" across. Will need similar 4" trim on bottom in living room and also along bottom on new dining room side now bedroom wall. Will need to tape and paint. I would make this wall myself in 2 panels so can easily remove if needed, but let me know your plan. When I have built a temp wall like this, I make 2 square panels of drywall with 2 x 4's making a panel, then attach the panels to each other, and also attach to walls, or wedge between 2 x 4 and wall basically, then just take apart if needed in future easily. But... I do not have time or energy to do this, so need someone to tell me their plan etc. MOVING: 1. Moving storage unit in Whittier, that I will probably just rent a UHAUL for, unless can find someone with a 15 foot truck to do the move another option exploring, and then move Whittier storage items and unload in Torrance? Let me know if can help load in Whittier for an hour or 2 tops, as is garage of stuff but not much other than couch, few other furniture pieces in boxes even of dresser and a patio couch, few other furniture pieces not boxed like 4 foot glass front cabinet, 4 x 3 wood bar, bed mattress, some boxes etc. Assume unload in Torrance would be about 2 hours. No stairs other than few into house from stoop. Or could you or someone you know... also just load in Whittier, or just unload in Torrance? I also have some boxes in Ventura, so am also looking for someone who might just spend hour probably moving about 15 boxes about 15lbs each max, down 10 stairs to the truck either Friday evening or Saturday AM thinking. I might end up moving myself, but had a abdomen surgery and still not supposed to lift much. I am also picking up a W/D in Glendale and Fridge in Costa Mesa, and is why thought a rental truck would be a better idea, and hoping maybe I could get someone to help in Ventura for hour maybe Friday evening, Saturday AM stop in Glendale and will load W/D myself with their help, head to OC & get Fridge with their help as well. Then assume meet someone in Torrance to unload these Ventura boxes and OC appliances, and that person can join me to Whittier or I will have someone in Whittier to help load. I would then either have Whittier person join me to unload in Torrance, or would need some help unloading in Torrance from another person, or the same person from 1st unload of appliances. So at minimum looking for unloading in Torrance probably 1-2 hours Saturday morning/afternoon. Would like if could find someone to help in Whittier for 1-2 hours. If can, it would also be nice if could find someone to help move boxes in Ventura assuming Friday night or early Saturday AM. But all unknown on specific time and dates until hear back on what type of help I can get and cost etc. Or not sure if I could find someone to move it all in their own 15' truck another option, but assume that would be someone only wanting to go from Whittier to Torrance, maybe get OC appliances? Doubt they would be able to have a reasonable cost if included Ventura and Glendale is my thinking. BUILD WALL: 2. Building just one wall in this house to close off the 6 foot wide arch doorway from living room to dining room = to make a bedroom. Also would need to rehang the existing door that has the hardware on it, that closed off the kitchen from dining room. Picture can be sent if interested of archway, and 30in doorway to rehang door. Not looking for glamorous out of Architecture Digest, just so is a wall and inexpensive, as I have made this type wall before by making 2 panels out of drywall and 2 x 4's making a square panel, and then attaching 2 panels to each other basically, then wedge or attach panel to side walls and top, with then tape and paint. Picture of archway needing enclosing with 6 foot wall can send if you interested. If you can build the panel wall in this archway and hang the existing door back in doorway... can you tell me what you might charge, how long it will take for you to finish, when you can start, if you can pick up drywall, and if you have the tools etc. While I have the rental truck during move ONLY, when have rental truck I can pick up the 4 drywall needed and 2x4's... but only then... or I am back to being without a vehicle after move. I do not have tools other than a drill, and that I would borrow. Please be clear in what job you want to do as in moving help, or wall, or maybe both. For the moving help tell me when you are available as far as days and times, location/locations you can help load/unload, and cost for your help. If have a 15ft truck same info but also which locations you would do of Whittier to Torrance, or add in appliances in Huntington Beach & Glendale, or if could add in Ventura... AND the cost of each area as I am on a tight budget and assuming the many stops might cost too much for me as to why might rent Uhaul? For wall help tell me when can start, how long till completed, if you can get supplies and have tools, and the cost of the project.
