Worksite rotates between two NYS-licensed residential facilities in confidential locations in Orange County, NY. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of certain background checks which, unless prohibited by applicable law, may include criminal history, employment verification, education verification, DMV checks (for driving positions), NY State Central Registry, NY State Exclusion List, and fingerprinting. The candidate will be the sole provider of maintenance for the facilities and does not operate as part of a maintenance crew. As such, we are looking for someone with a well-rounded set of skills. You don't need to be a licensed expert, but you do need to be able to provide basic maintenance in multiple areas. Skills: Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting and drywall, basic appliance repair. Seasonal tasks include groundskeeping, a/c unit installation/removal, snow shoveling. Moves furniture and equipment. Keeps buildings and grounds free of trash and debris. Prepare for inspections (knowledge of NYS Office of Children and Family Services regulations helpful but not required). Ability to prioritize and complete service requests in an efficient and timely manner. Assists with special projects periodically as directed. Identifies projects requiring the services of a higher skilled craftsperson; assists in obtaining quotes and arranging for services of outside vendors as directed. Ensure agency vehicles are in good repair and regularly maintained. Keeps a safe and clean work area; follows basic safety measures when working around children. Maintains the confidentiality of clients, staff, volunteers, and agency information as required by federal law. Exceptions include information pertaining to child abuse, danger to self or others, or in response to an authorized release of information. Requirements: Must have reliable transportation and clean driver's license. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak fluent English. This job requires continual physical activity, long periods of standing, and exertion. Must be able to lift 60 pounds. Can easily navigate stairs, ramps, sidewalks, and walk distances carrying a workload. High School/Trade School diploma required. Direct work experience with maintenance and facilities upkeep. Knowledge of all phases of construction and building maintenance. Minimum of 5 years of general work experience Proficient in computer use. Must be able to read and respond to email. Clean, valid driver's license and driving skill level consistent with agency policy. Ability to interface with all types of mechanical and construction contractors. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to understand agency’s policies and procedures with a willingness to appreciate different points of view and problem solve in a constructive manner.
