Description
This course will teach participants about managing patients with lumbar spine disorders. INTEGRIS Health is concerned about the health and well-being of its patients, caregivers, and visitors. Effective November 1, 2021, INTEGRIS Health will require all educational participants who come on site to an INTEGRIS Health facility to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have an approved exemption from the participants school/institution on file. Instructor background/expertise relevant to the field of physical therapy. • Charles Steger is a 2008 graduate of the Rockhurst University physical therapy program in Kansas City, Missouri. Upon graduation he worked in a private practice orthopedic clinic in Norman, Oklahoma while attending post-graduate training at the Oklahoma Institute of Orthopedic Manual Therapy. Charles then pursued educational training and study from Michael Moore and Tim McGonigle of Folsom Physical Therapy and the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine before opening a private practice in Norman, Oklahoma. Charles joined the Jim Thorpe team in 2015 was hired in 2017 as the orthopedic clinical specialist for INTEGRIS Jim Thorpe. He earned COMT certification for the lower quarter through the International Academy of Orthopedic Medicine in 2019. 2. Course title: PRINCIPLES OF ORTHOPEDIC MANAGEMENT OF THE LUMBAR SPINE 3. Course description • The PRINCIPLES OF ORTHOPEDIC MANAGEMENT OF THE LUMBAR SPINE course provides an in-depth focus on the relevant pathoanatomy of the lumbar spine and the sacroiliac joints, basic and specific examination procedures for the lumbar spine and sacroiliac joints, clinic interpretation and differential diagnosis with an emphasis diagnosing a specific pain generator, and diagnosis specific management techniques including patient education/self-care management techniques, traction principles/techniques, joint specific mobilization techniques, and therapeutic activities. 4. The focus of the course is to provide physical therapists with a framework for determining tissue specific diagnoses and a foundation of knowledge/skills that will allow therapist to effectively manage the most frequently seen diagnoses of the lumbar spine and sacroiliac joints.
