Galing Bata's Balik-Tanaw Team is a combination of former and current GB staff. They've come back together again with a mission to celebrate, uplift, and amplify Galing Bata's positive impact on our community. Balik-tanaw means "to look back and reminisce."
What's Galing Bata?
The Galing Bata Bilingual Program at the Bessie Carmichael/Filipino Education Center provides quality guidance, care and protection (gabay, lingap, bantay) to students from Transitional Kindergarten to 8th grade during the after school hours through a culturally and linguistically focused biliteracy in English and Filipino (Tagalog) and the development of a healthy bicultural identity by harmonizing the Filipino and American identities of the children.
Its main goal is to provide linguistically and culturally responsive programming.
