Description

Dennis LeGear: Hydrants to Nozzles Lecture Since the dawn of firefighting, the ability to move as much water as possible from a source to the fire dictated the success of the operation. From buckets, to hand tubs, steamers to modern centrifugal pumps, the equipment has evolved but the engine's mission is unchanged: to move water. Dennis Legear's hydrants to nozzles will cover every aspect involved in this task, from small appliance and apparatus considerations, to a five thousand foot view of an urban/suburban fire operation. This class can be applied to all ranks and positions within the fire department, as each can take away knowledge and an understanding of every level of the overall objective. Please join us in our endeavor to learn and improve our craft. Dennis LeGear is a retired Captain from the Oakland Fire Department where he reinstated and served as the departments water supply officer. He is the founder of LeGear Engineering Fire Department Consultants. Dennis has provided technical advice to some of the largest fire agencies in the nation including, Portland, Seattle, Boston and the City of New York. He is a panel member of the Underwriters Laboratories Firefighter Safety Research Institute Interior/ Exterior Fire Streams study. In addition, he was elected by his peers to continue on the UL Coordinated Attack Panel. He is an author and a proposal reviewer for the Book Division of Clarion Events and the author of the articles Hose Dreams and Nozzle Dreams in addition to the Water Supply and Hose/ Appliance chapter in the Fire Engineering Handbook for Firefighter I and II. Dennis' work has been instrumental in the fire services return to 1 ¾ and 2 ½ hose lines with renewed emphasis on hose construction standards and stream development. This 8 hour lecture will be available on two consecutive days to allow for shift personnel to attend. Dates: March 18th and 19th, 2021 Cost: $25.00 for Benevolent members and $50.00 for non-members For more information about Dennis LeGear click the link below. http://www.hydrant2nozzle.com/
