Description

Trauma Sensitive Yoga Class and Intention Setting with Katie Comeau and Every Body Belongs in Bozeman Every Body Belongs is Back! We hope to bring more community events throughout the year as we lead up to our week-long initiative in May, because body inclusivity always matters. What is trauma sensitive yoga? Often, when people live with trauma they become disconnected to their bodies and live in their heads. TCTSY is a choice based yoga class that fosters present moment awareness and cultivates a sense of self. It is a chance to step out of the mind and into the body. What is trauma? Anything that takes you away from your true self. About the Class Join Katie Comeau, trauma sensitive yoga instructor at the Eating Disorder Center of Montana (EDCMT), for a special trauma informed yoga class and intention setting for the upcoming holiday season. The special class and intention setting is part of the ongoing celebration of EVERY BODY Belongs in Bozeman, an initiative to highlight the importance of having a body inclusive community. Katie has been teaching yoga for 9 years and is a certified Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitator (TCTSY-F) with the Center for Trauma and Embodiment in Brookline, MA. She currently facilitates trauma sensitive restorative yoga, milieu therapy, and daily mindfulness at EDCMT. She believes that yoga is for EVERY BODY and her passion for gentle, accessible, and choice based yoga adapts to each individual in the room. Katie was drawn to EDCMT by the center’s holistic approach to treatment and brings a body based mindfulness practice that is rooted in five principles: present moment experience, choice making, shared authentic experience, non coercion, and invitational language. Katie believe’s these five principles foster safety in one’s body, making space for personal growth and healing. This special class will include a 75 minute practice, with intention setting before and after, with time afterwards to learn more about the Eating Disorder Center of Montana and our annual event, Every Body Belongs in Bozeman. Masks are required before, during, and after the class. Not sure if this class is right for you? The class will be appropriate for all levels, and is a wonderful introduction to trauma sensitive yoga for anyone who has never tried it before. The class is donation based, and all proceeds will be donated to Bridgercare to support their mission that everyone in our community have access to affordable healthcare and non-judgemental sex ed.
