The museum galleries will ring out with
the sounds of Civil War era tunes as well as joyous holiday
music performed by a brass quintet.
This is a unique opportunity to hear music of the Civil War from a brass quintet. Performing on period instruments, the quintet will play a list of popular tunes from the 1860s. The tunes come directly from the American Brass Band Journal (c. 1860) and those arranged for quintets from original documents, published during the war, through the Library of Congress archives.
Please join us for this rousing display of period music designed by Stephen Burden and the members of The Perimeter Brass; Yonathan Zegeye, Jared Graham, Tyler Kimball, and Brandon Waugh. Stephen says that period music “allows us to reflect on our origins, our progress as a people, to feel the emotions of our ancestors, and connect to our past.”
