Description
Quarterly gathering for Christian founders, free lancers, and workers in a startup culture. The life of an entrepreneur is full of many joys but also numerous challenges. There is the ability to create meaningful products and services for others, but often times there can be feelings of extreme loneliness. There is the chance to provide life changing work for employees, but also the burden of meeting financial quotas. Founders can earn the praise of the public, while at the same time the fiduciary scrutiny of investors. The ups and downs of this journey can feel isolating and often times discouraging with no clear person to share the struggle with. Christians working in this space are not immune to these challenges. Understanding how to trust God in this journey can feel daunting. With this in mind, CFWC is partnering with Faith Driven Entrepreneur to begin hosting quarterly gatherings for founders, freelance workers, and those in the startup space. The desire for these events is to create regular opportunities for entrepreneurs to gathers, make new connections, and hear encouraging stories of how God is faithful even in the ups and downs of a business journey. The first Faith Driven Entrepreneur Network event will be Wednesday, November 17 from 5-7pm at Green|Spaces. We will provide drinks, snacks, and the chance to meet and share stories with other founders who are navigating what it means to lead an endeavor while also faithfully following Christ. At this first event we will have the chance to hear from Jeff Coffey, the founder of Fair Flies, as he shares ways he sees his business as part of God’s redemptive work in the world. We hope you will join us for this time of encouragement and networking. Jeff Coffey is a Kingdom focused serial entrepreneur and founder of Zoe Angling Group (Fair Flies, Wasatch Tools, and PIVIT Fishing). Jeff started his journey as a church planter on Indian reservations in Canada with his wife Lori back in 1996. Since that time he has led youth organizations, planted churches, led a sub committee in Washington D.C. on Medicaid services, and built and sold four software companies. Through a life changing moment God revealed that working for the Kingdom and building companies were not in conflict with each other, but can be done together. Seven years ago Jeff set out to build a product company that would employ exploited individuals in difficult places in order to serve the Kingdom and provide returns for investors at the same time. Come hear Jeff share his journey through the sacred secular divide and the miraculous things God has done in and through their work. Biblical Discipleship: We believe wisdom for daily living comes from an understanding of the biblical story, and specifically what it says about God’s plan for the world. Vocational Calling: We challenge Christians to understand in a deeper way who they are in Christ and what it means to reimagine their work as sacred opportunities to serve the Lord. Community Collaboration: We provide opportunities for Christians from different professional, denominational, and cultural backgrounds to learn a shared kingdom language that promotes gospel-centered partnerships. City Service: We believe Christians must be aware of the places they are called to live and look for ways to nurture flourishing through involvement, sacrifice, and service.
