This workshop will teach you how to take your photographs to a new creative level with the ancient art of encaustics. Encaustics is a mixed media technique that involves using a heated beeswax medium which is applied to a surface (here a mounted photograph) and then other materials such as paint, ground pigments, and collaged elements are incorporated upon and within the wax. This two-day workshop is open to novice and experienced artists, as well as those who just want to try something different with their photos. Participants will take home two encaustic pieces that they have created from their own photographs. Students are asked to bring at least three black and white photographs printed on photocopier paper to the workshop.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a 2 day class meeting on 1/26 & 2/27/21 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
