SARASOTA, FL — A registered sex offender has been accused of the sexual battery of his girlfriend's 7-year-old son, Sarasota police said in a news release. Kerry Hill, 58, was arrested Monday and faces charges of capital sexual battery of a victim under 12. The boy's mother contacted Sarasota police and met with them Sunday. She told investigators that she's been in a sexual relationship with Hill for about a year. The mother told police that Hill visited her Sarasota home Saturday. She wasn't feeling well, so her son went out with Hill. When the boy returned home, he told his mother that Hill inappropriately touched him, according to police. The boy was examined at Sarasota Memorial Hospital Sunday and his injuries were documented. According to the probable cause affidavit, Hill promised to buy the boy gifts if he didn't tell anyone what happened. In an interview with police, Hill denied leaving the mother's home with her son or having any inappropriate interactions with the boy. Video surveillance footage showed him entering a Circle K and a 7-Eleven with the child Saturday. A search warrant was obtained allowing police to tow Hill's truck from his home. Following their investigation, detectives determined probable cause to arrest and charge Hill with capital sexual battery of a victim under 12. He is being held at Sarasota County Jail without bond. Hill was previously convicted of unlawful sexual activity with minors 16 to 17 years old in 2000, police said. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Detective Kim Laster at 941-263-6827 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers by calling 941-366-TIPS (8477) or at www.sarasotacrimestoppers.com.
