Additionally, this position assists in buildings maintenance, assists with new construction and remodeling projects, performs room set-up and tear-down for events and meetings, and operates power equipment. This position may be subject to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Essential duties and responsibilities Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations, the essential functions of the job. - Maintains, adjusts, and repairs irrigation systems for multiple sites - Performs routine maintenance and installation of raw water irrigation and well pumping systems - Tracking of well water usage for state record requirements - Irrigation system programming and water usage tracking - Mowing of all turf and native landscaping areas - Care for all trees, shrubs, and annuals associated with the landscaping - Repairs signs and fences - Moves office furniture and equipment - Performs general building cleaning and maintenance - Empties trash and recycle bins - Performs event set-up, tear-down, and clean-up - Removes snow - Assists with carpentry projects, painting, welding, and general plumbing modifications, and repairs - Maintains a clean and safe work environment - Maintains regular and reliable attendance Other functions - Will be required to work within and around transmission substations - Performs other duties as assigned This position has no supervisory or lead role responsibilities. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Knowledge, skills and abilities - Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively (written and verbal) with staff and contract personnel - Basic computer skills (e-mail, time entry, work order system) - Ability to concurrently work on multiple projects - Willingness and ability to work overtime and respond to emergency call-outs when needed - Ability to obtain a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) within 6 months of starting employment ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Minimum qualifications Experience in 3 or more of the following areas: - Raw water irrigation pumps - Sprinkler systems - Landscape - Plumbing - Carpentry - Painting - Power equipment operation - Minor equipment maintenance and repair - Experience in the operation of lawn equipment, skid steer, forklift or similar equipment - Current valid driver's license and ability to remain insurable under Platte River's vehicle liability policy - Class A CDL or ability to obtain one within 6 months of starting employment Preferred qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Physical requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift up to 84 pounds. The following requirements are approximate in requirement and % of time: - Perform work while standing or walking: 70% - Use of computer or performing other work while sitting: 15% - Occasionally lifting up to 84lbs.: 15% ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Work environment This job operates both indoors and outside in the elements; the individual will be required to operate equipment such as lawn equipment, and be able to operate equipment used in repairs and maintenance and related tools. Regular exposure to heat and noise along with working outside in the elements Work hours are typically Monday through Thursday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM Must be available for emergency/snow call-outs and extended hours on nights and weekends as needed ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hourly pay range for this position (placement DOQ): $21.64 – $28.01 (range, if annualized: $45,011 - $58,261) Platte River Power Authority offers employees an outstanding benefits package.
