WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Direct from Woodbridge Police, these roads are flooded and impassable Tuesday morning: Leesville Avenue at the underpassGill Lane at the underpassWest Avenue at Port Reading AvenueChain O' Hills Road between Green Street and Park AvenueRahway Avenue by Edgerton Blvd. (the catch basin is clogged)Kind George Road is closed between Mary and Fairfield due to a disabled truckThere's flooding on the Garden State Parkway south through Woodbridge and on I-78 eastbound. Woodbridge schools opened normally, but dozens of school districts across the state either closed or opened late Tuesday morning (get the full list here), and Rutgers University is holding all classes virtual. There have not been any water rescues in Woodbridge (yet), but Hazlet has been badly hit by flooding. Hazlet Police said they had to rescue up to 15 drivers Tuesday morning. All of them were able to get out safely — some with minor assistance from officers. The storm will not let up until Tuesday night: A flash flood watch remains in effect for the entire state until 8 p.m. "Coastal areas of Middlesex and Monmouth counties as well as areas north of Interstate 78 are at the greatest risk of flash flooding," reported NJ.com and wind gusts could be 25 to 35 mph along the Jersey Shore Tuesday night. Widespread rain totals of 2 to 4 inches are likely, with locally higher amounts possible. Flash flooding of creeks, streams, urban areas and areas of poor drainage is possible with the heaviest rain.
