ARLINGTON, VA — The Arlington County Department of Parks and Recreation earned accreditation through the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) and the National Recreation and Park Association, the county announced Monday. The CAPRA accreditation is a measure of an agency's overall quality of operation, management and service to the community. "This mark of distinction recognizes our commitment to highest level of service to the community," Jane Rudolph, director of Arlington Parks & Recreation, said in a statement. As part of the accreditation process, Arlington Parks & Recreation had to demonstrate compliance with 154 recognized standards and document all policies and procedures. The process helps identify efficiencies and heighten areas of accountability, all of which translate into higher quality service and operation to benefit the community, the department said. Arlington Parks & Recreation operates 13 community centers along with parks, nature centers, dog parks and 49 miles of paved multi-use and hiking trails.
