To the Editor: I am honored to support the candidacy of Francis Santana for Burgess in the upcoming Naugatuck elections this November 2nd. Francis is an intelligent, hard-working and compassionate individual who will be a strong contributor to the Board of Mayor and Burgesses. The daughter of migrant parents from the Dominican Republic, Francis is a first generation, college graduate. Raised in a home that instilled in her a strong work ethic and respect for all people, Francis earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and criminology and a post graduate degree in human resource management. She has devoted most of her professional life to counseling those struggling with addiction, mental health or domestic violence. Recently, Francis has been diligently working at the Naugatuck Board of Education in a support role. Since moving to Naugatuck with her family four years ago, Francis has become actively involved in the community. She is a 2020 graduate of the Parent Leadership Training Institute. Francis also serves on the board of the local Connecticut Partnership for Children, which provides essential items to families in need. In addition, Francis has always found time to volunteer at various Naugatuck Public Schools events supporting her two sons. Communities are at their strongest when new, energetic and committed individuals step forward to play an active role in local government. Francis Santana represents exactly the kind of person that we need in Naugatuck. She cherishes all the qualities that make Naugatuck such a special place to call home, and is excited for the opportunity to work in collaboration with local leaders for an even better tomorrow.
