Description

By John Gibson, WNIN Oct. 26, 2021 A person escaped an Evansville house fire through an upstairs window. Firefighters were dispatched to the 2100 block of E Division St. at about 5:30 yesterday (Sun) morning, where a passerby saw smoke coming from a house. In a release, EFD Division Chief Mike Larson said the first crew to arrive couldn't find the fire. But crews on a second engine spotted smoke coming from a house after Central Dispatch received a report of someone on a roof with a flashlight. Larson said the occupant of the home escaped through an upstairs window onto the roof and firefighters got the person down with a ladder. Larson said the fire was considered extinguished in about 20 minutes and was ruled accidental. No injuries were reported. Evansville firefighters extinguished a blaze at a West Side business.
