JEFFERSON HILLS, PA — A portion of Route 51 south of Pittsburgh likely will be closed at least through the morning rush hour after a train struck a dump truck late Monday evening.
The driver of the truck died in the accident.
Route 51 was shut down in both directions from Jefferson Boulevard to Ridge Road until 12:40 p.m., according to Jefferson Hills police.
The train was crossing over tracks at the intersection of Route 51 and Worthington Drive at around 10:40 p.m. Monday when the accident occurred.
At least one traffic control device was damaged in the incident.
