State Trooper Martinez Assigned To Lower Bucks County Dies At 57

LEVITTOWN, PA – A Pennsylvania State Police trooper who was assigned to cover Lower Bucks County died last week at the age of 57 after being exposed to the coronavirus, the union that represents troopers announced. Trooper Dung X. Martinez died Thursday morning after being hospitalized after he was exposed to COVID-19, the union said. The union did not say when or how the state trooper became exposed. The Pennsylvania State Police confirmed Martinez's death and said in a news release that Martinez was assigned to Troop T in Montgomery County, which covers the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Lower Bucks County. Martinez served with the barracks in Bensalem Township, which patrols Lower Bucks County, and in Lancaster County and Delaware County, the state police said. "Our department expresses deep sorrow for the sudden loss of a colleague and friend," state police Commissioner Col. Robert Evanchick said in a news release. "We wish Trooper Martinez's family and friends comfort and peace during this difficult time and ask Pennsylvanians to keep them in their thoughts." Martinez enlisted in the Pennsylvania State Police in April 2000 and was part of the 107th Cadet Class. He was a recipient of the Blooming Grove Service Award for participating in the 2014 manhunt of Eric Frein. Martinez is survived by his wife and two children.
