JOLIET, IL — A domestic violence attack against a Joliet woman in late August in the 400 block of East Bellarmine Drive has resulted in four domestic battery charges for 26-year-old Jaymon Wells, a Joliet resident, police announced.
A warrant for Wells' arrest was issued in September, and Joliet police took Wells into custody at his residence in the 800 block of Horseshoe Drive on Friday night.
On Aug, 29, a woman notified Joliet police that she was attacked by Wells five days earlier on Bellarmine Drive, authorities said.
"Officers determined that the victim had been battered by Wells, the father of her child," police spokesman Dwayne English stated. "Further investigation revealed that during an argument, Wells punched the victim in the chest, choked her, repeatedly struck the victim in the head with a closed fist, and pulled the victim out of a bedroom by her wrist."
The woman managed to free herself from Wells and drive to the nearby St. Joe's hospital where she received stitches to her head, police said.
Will County Jail logs indicate that Wells was released from the county jail early Sunday morning after posting 10 percent of his $7,500 bail.
