NORTHFIELD, MN — The bicyclist who died at the scene of a crash on County Road 42 in Rosemount on Monday as reported by Fox 9 was identified by a Northfield church as its pastor, Dennis Dempsey.
"We learned last night that Fr. Dennis Dempsey was called home to our Heavenly Father," Church of St. Dominic shared on its Facebook page. "Father Denny was tragically killed in a bicycle accident yesterday afternoon (October 25). We know this news will be devastating to many who know and so loved him. Our hearts are broken."
Dempsey was the pastor at Church of St. Dominic for 15 years, the church shared. Funeral arrangements are pending, according to the post.
Police said that Dempsey was hit by a car while riding his bike in Rosemount, according to the Fox 9 report.
Trejean D. Curry, 26, of Minneapolis, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide, according to a report by the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Curry was driving after having his license revoked, which he had been convicted of doing 10 times in the past 3.5 years, the report said.
