ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving a store disturbance, a suspicious father, an overdose, a DUI, shoplifting, a car burglary, vaping at a school and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Store disturbance Youths used foul language and made inappropriate gestures about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at The Gaming Goat, 160 N. York St., causing customers to leave. The youths were given no-trespass notices. Police told their parents about the incident. Suspicious father An official at Visitation Catholic School, 851 S. York St., informed police Friday that a father, who was not listed in school paperwork, inquired about dismissal times and the desire to pick up his child from school. When the father arrived, the child had been dismissed and was no longer at the school. An officer spoke with both parents. Coming to rescue Police responded to a possible overdose about 8 a.m. Sunday at Extended Stay America, 550 W. Grand Ave. The victim was not conscious and not breathing. Officers administered Narcan, and the victim regained consciousness. The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital. DUI Kelli A. Morrison, 36, of Downers Grove, was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Sunday at Colfax and Vallette on charges of DUI and disobeying a traffic control signal. She was released on bond. Shoplifting A man stole liquor about 3 p.m. Sunday at Whole Foods Market, 215 S. Route 83. The man was described as black, 35 to 45 years old, 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-2, 180 to 200 pounds, bald, having a medium build, and wearing a gray Nike hoodie, a black face mask, dark jeans, light-colored shoes and a large red backpack. Car burglary Someone burglarized a woman's car between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 1 a.m. Thursday in the 400 block of North York Street. The owner said her car was locked, but the rear driver's side window was open. Nothing appeared to be missing. Vaping at school An officer and school officials found two students vaping at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in a restroom at York High School, 355 St. Charles Road. Both possessed vape devices containing cannabis wax. They were cited on charges of marijuana possession under age 21. They were released back to their classrooms. Fugitive driver An officer tried to stop a car suspected to be involved in ATM burglaries in several towns. The driver failed to stop and sped away, last seen heading east on St. Charles Road. The incident was about 1 a.m. Friday. Bicycle issues A student's unlocked bicycle was stolen between 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Friday from the bike rack closest to the football field at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road. The Trek bike was silver and blue, 24 inches and seven speed. An officer found an unsecured Huffy Santa Fe bicycle about 7 a.m. Saturday in the Addison parking deck. The bike was placed into evidence for safekeeping. Identification theft A man fraudulently used another person's T-Mobile account information and bought two Pro Max iPhones about 3 p.m. Saturday at the T-Mobile store, 624 N. York St. The man was described as black, 30 years old, having short hair and presenting an out-of-state identification. A resident in the 300 block of East Church Street told police Thursday that someone attempted to transfer money out of her account. The resident also learned of fraudulent activity on her debit account. She contacted her bank and reported the incident to credit bureaus. A resident in the 200 block of Elm Park Avenue told police Saturday that someone used her personal information to open a Chime bank account. The resident was provided information on how to protect herself against identity theft. Driving violations Erica McCoy, 32, of Broadview, was cited about 2 a.m. Saturday at Roosevelt and Butterfield on charges of possession of open alcohol, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of marijuana by a driver and speeding. She was released on bond. Leylan A. Martinez-Gomez, 19, of Bensenville, was cited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Route 83 and Lake on charges of no valid driver's license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and child restraint violations (two counts). She was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
