BEVERLY HILLS, CA — Halloween this year will mean a lot of extra worry and planning; how to trick-or-treat safely, how to make a mask match a costume and whether handing out candy is even a good idea. The Beverly Hills Police Department reminded residents Monday that roadways should be at the top of the 2021 Halloween preparation list. To stay safe on Halloween and Día de los Muertos, which is on Nov. 1 and 2, residents should slow down in residential neighborhoods and allow for extra time at any intersections, entrances or exits. Additionally, police said, trick-or-treaters should ensure their costumes fit snugly, as loose-fitting costumes can cause falls. Try to make reflective tape work with your costume, police suggest, to Last year, the city banned house-to-house trick-or-treating because of the pandemic, and recommended families adapt by trick-or-treating in cars. This year, the LA County Department of Public Health has suggested that residents keep trick-or-treating groups small, masked and distanced from other groups.
