SCOTTSDALE, AZ — The Scottsdale Police Department, in collaboration with other public safety departments, will conduct a DUI Task Force throughout Halloween weekend. The Task Force will be in effect from Oct. 29-31, Scottsdale police said. Its goal is to "deter, detect, and remove" impaired drivers from the road before they injure others or themselves, police said. To do this, Task Force officers will create a "high visibility presence" and will conduct traffic stops to detect impaired drivers. "As always, the best choice if someone is planning on consuming alcoholic beverages or recreational marijuana is to plan ahead with a designated driver, ride share service, or taxicab," police said. "Please drive safely or have a planned alternative way home." The Scottsdale Police Department will conduct the Task Force along with the Department of Public Safety, Maricopa County Sheriff's Department, Tempe Police Department, Gilbert Police Department, SRIPD and Mesa Police Department.
