Drummer looking for jazz beginners/intermediates

I'm a drummer with a fair amount of experience in rock, country and blues, but not much experience in jazz - just a little jazz-flavored timekeeping here and there. I've always found it easier to learn by doing, as opposed to taking lessons, and I was hoping there might be some other players out there in the same boat. I'd like to get better by playing with some other jazz beginners, or with some more experienced players who are willing to work with a newbie (though I imagine that's somewhat less likely). Having a bassist is pretty essential, so I'd wait until I had that at least before meeting up the first time. I'm not looking to start a 'band' per se. I just want to find a group of 2-5 players who'd like to get together at my place every couple of weeks, jam, and push ourselves technically. If it's fun, we can keep doing it! If it sounds like cat strangling, we can have a good laugh and say we tried. Let me know! Cheers.
