We are looking to hire farm help for the rest of the Autumn, Winter and beyond. We are a small farm with several horses and a small alpaca herd. We are looking for help with daily farm activities for 2-3 hours a day. Must be able to work quietly and respectfully around livestock. Some lifting is involved, so you must be able to pick up and carry heavy items such as 50lb feed bags, and 40lb-50lb hay bales. Experience with handling horses is a plus, especially using natural horsemanship methods. Job opening is for: 1. Two to four days a week, 10am – 1pm. (Hours may be flexible. Days may be flexible.) 2. Possibility of trading days with other farm help on occasion, same time frame. 3. Occasional on-call help will be needed for special occasions such as when hay is delivered and must be put up in the hay loft. Responsibilities include: * barn set-up, * cleaning stalls and paddocks, * scrubbing feed buckets and water buckets, * snow clearing around doors, gates and pathways, * hay management, and * other general farm labor. No smoking, drugs, alcohol or drama. Must be honest, dependable, thorough, hard working, have good communication skills, and be willing and able to follow directions. Must be able to communicate by cell phone. Must have driver's license and your own reliable transportation. Our ideal candidate: * lives locally so that transportation issues are minimal, * is committed to coming to work regularly (barring extenuating circumstances), * is intuitive about animal care, understanding the need for a clean and safe environment, * is observant about animal needs, able to step up and take care of things that are not explicitly required, * has a good memory and can remember changes in procedures and special requests, We appreciate someone who is flexible, and open to the possibility of extra or shifted hours in some circumstances.
