Ready. Set. Race! Don't miss our first ever Beer Can Derby Race! We are partnering with Left Hand Brewing Company to bring you our first ever Beer Can Derby Racing Competition! What’s a Beer Can Derby you ask? It’s a competition in which participants construct a pinewood derby-style race car using a beer can (in this case, a Left Hand Brewing beer can!) instead of the traditional plank of wood. You will design and construct a car with the materials provided and race against fellow competitors for a chance to win a sweet Left Hand Brewing prize pack! Registration will be $20 and includes: your first Left Hand beer (you will use the empty can in your car design), a set of wheels and axles, and all the materials you will need to decorate and design your beer can race car. As a committed sponsor and supporter of Team Left Hand Florida, $10 from each ticket will be donated directly to BIKE MS in its quest to see a world free of MS. Each can car must pass inspection by the official inspection committee before it will be allowed to compete. Once inspection has been passed, you'll be given a race time. You can scope out the inspection parameters below. "If you ain't first, you're last." Not true! We'll also be awarding a prize for Most Creative Design. Following are the inspection points: 1. The total weight shall not exceed 5.0 ounces. The official race scale shall be considered final. 2. The overall length shall not exceed 7 inches. 3. The overall width shall not exceed 3 inches. 4. The can may be shaped any way that is desired. 5. The can must be freewheeling, with no starting devices. 6. YOUR CAN CAR MUST BE BUILT ON SITE.
