FLSA: Non-Exempt/Overtime Eligible Hours Per Week: 22 (Monday - Thursday)/Part-time  Compensation: $18.00 per hour Position Summary: Met Council is America’s largest Jewish charity dedicated to serving the needy. Met Council’s ten different departments are staffed by experts who helped over 305,000 clients in 2020 and continuously advocate on behalf of all needy New Yorkers. Our holistic programs range from 100% affordable housing at 20 locations to our award-winning family violence program to comprehensive Holocaust survivor assistance to senior programming to crisis intervention to the largest free kosher food distribution program in the world. Our network of 101 food pantries, 20 affordable housing sites, and 15 JCCs provide services directly in neighborhoods across New York. The Facilities Assistant will work with the Supervising Receptionist in the day-to-day facilitation of operations of the agency’s main office. Note: This is not a remote position Duties and Responsibilities: Ensures cleanliness of kitchen, lunch area, meeting rooms and all common areas in compliance with COVID-19 disinfection protocols Provides daily relief and backup coverage for front desk Supervising Receptionist; covers organization-wide switchboard Assists Supervising Receptionist with COVID-19 protocols for incoming guests (PHA) Assists Supervising Receptionist with receiving and distributing supplies; buys milk on daily basis Handles and stores supplies, organizes the supply cabinets Maps out/takes inventory of the filing cabinets in the supply room Assists with moving furniture when needed Assists with receiving deliveries to the Food Pantry and other departments Makes sure all the copier cabinets are full at all times with paper and supplies Ensures shredding machines are emptied and working properly Delivers and picks up packages and mail from locations throughout New York City Prepares desks/offices for new employees (office supplies, name tags, etc.) Assists with minor office maintenance and installations Assists in preparing meeting rooms for scheduled events, trainings, meetings, etc. Handles all additional facilities/reception issues that come up Competencies: Microsoft Office General Maintenance Ability to navigate within New York City Excellent verbal skills Skill and Education Required: High School Diploma. Experience in Office Management and Facilities Management. Good communication skills. Patient with superb Customer Service skills. Self-starter, detailed oriented. Physical Demands: Required Constantly:  Walking, sitting, grasping, bending, stooping, squatting, computer input, finger dexterity and coordination of hand, eye and foot Required Frequently: Standing and climbing stairs; carrying file boxes (approx. 8-10 lbs) Required Occasionally: Reaching above the shoulder, and lifting 5-50 pounds, pushing and pulling Special Requirements: Ability to safely walk through and handle office furniture moves.
