OB nursing legalities; alleviating the fear is a custom 3 hour live workshop. Jen Atkisson, RNC-OB MSN CNL C-EFM C-ONQS is a perinatal nurse, clinical educator, AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring Intermediate and Advanced Instructor, consultant, and expert witness on nursing and hospital standard of care. She's a dedicated advocate for nurses and patients with the philosophy that education should always move a unit towards increased patient safety. Her passion is helping nurses re-connect to their professional identity. Description Nurse designed and facilitated, this participant-driven course uses several training techniques; large group discussion, coaching, lecture, and role-playing. As nurses, we need two be able to talk about the things that are beneath the lawsuit--patient injury and harm--and ways to prevent it in a well-regulated way. In a way that doesn’t keep us in this fight-or-flight mode, and lets us be bold and actionable in our patient advocacy. We'll review briefly the lawsuit process... because when we shine a light on something, it gets a little less scary. Define standard of care, what does it really mean? Review the common things seen in every lawsuit.
