Tahoe National Forest Snowshoe Training (12/11/21 9am-6pm) & Mandatory Pre-trip Meeting (12/9/21 6-8pm) This experience-based class teaches you the skills you’ll need to take youth out in the snow through the easy and inexpensive activity of snowshoeing. The course starts in a classroom with information about clothing and equipment and then goes into the now SNOW FILLED mountains of Tahoe National Forest! Upon your return, you’ll be qualified to rent or borrow snowshoes, snow clothing layers, and winter boots from our Oakland, South Bay, and San Francisco gear libraries.Topics covered will include snow safety, proper equipment, kids and snowshoeing and practical logistics. All gear included. We generally meet at the trailhead by 9am, so plan to leave the Bay Area by 6am, to return around 6pm. Carpooling and transportation will be arranged at the pre-trip meeting. *Please note: this date is tentative and dependent on snowfall, the backup date for this trip is: 1/22/22
