Special Home Required!!
3 year old female border collie. Rescued 10 months ago and I have done as much as I can to help her but she needs a more mellow environment.
The good: extremely affectionate girl once she knows you. Loves belly rubs and playing ball. Does amazing with other dogs and animals. I trust her off leash and she is getting much better with other commands. No food aggression, takes treats very politely.
The sad: she was extremely neglected when I got her and is quite afraid of men and children. I used to say terrified but she has come along way. That said, we have a very active household with people coming and going along with us being active in going places and it stressed her out to be around strangers. She has bit 2 men, breaking the skin with small puncture wounds and only happened because they invaded her space. Our other dogs are very friendly and outgoing so our visitors aren’t used to a dog that would prefer to be left alone. I hate the idea of having to exclude her from our life so much.
She would do great in a home with a woman or a couple with a patient man. Someone who just wants someone to walk with and hang out with.
I will be very picky about who she goes too. I am upfront about her bite history so no one is surprised. Unfortunately the other option is euthanasia but I would like to try to find someone with the abilities to help her before having to follow that course of action.
Please no hate. I want what’s best for her, and our life style is more than she can handle.
