PEABODY, MA — The Torigian Family YMCA will once again be collecting donated food items for Peabody families in need during its Thanksgiving food drive beginning next week.
Donations can be made in the lobby of the YMCA on Lynnfield Street starting Nov. 1 through Nov. 15 from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
"Far too many families in our community continue to struggle to make ends meet and food prices continue to rise," Torigian Family YMCA Executive Director Rob Lowell said. "We're hoping to collect food for as many people as possible, so everyone can have a hot healthy meal this Thanksgiving."
The YMCA will distribute the donations to families experiencing homelessness and food insecurity in coordination with Citizens Inn, which Executive Director Corey Jackson anticipates will be giving out more than 1,600 turkeys with all the sides.
"This year, more than ever, people need to be able to have a sense of normalcy over the holiday season," Citizens Inn Executive Director Corey Jackson said. "We simply cannot accomplish this without our partnership with the Torigian Family YMCA and its members."
More donation and holiday drives from the YMCA of Metro North can be found here.
