Oct. 24, 2021
Big Storm Brewing Co. donated approximately $20,000 worth of hand sanitizer to Hillsborough County Public Schools to help keep students, teachers, and staff safe in the classrooms and on campus. Big storm co-owner L.J. Govoni gave Superintendent Addison Davis one thousand gallons of hand sanitizer last month.
"We are constantly working to make sure we are providing a healthy learning environment in Hillsborough County," said Superintendent Addison Davis. "This generous donation will help ensure that all of our students and employees will have ample access to effective hand sanitizer produced right here in our own community."
Big Storm Brewing Co. has been utilizing its stills to produce commercially-packaged sanitizer throughout the coronavirus pandemic. At one point, the brewery was operating 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, producing one thousand gallons each day. But now, Big Storm's focus shifting back to brewing craft beer.
"Big Storm Brewing Company has given back by providing hand sanitizer to law enforcement agencies, medical offices, government agencies, construction companies and other essential businesses, and today we are honored to donate some of our excess supply to schools," said co-owner L.J. Govoni. "As a parent, we all just want to make sure our kids are safe and healthy, especially when they aren't by our side. We are grateful Hillsborough County Public Schools has accepted our one-thousand-gallon donation, to help reduce the spread of germs."
Big Storm has been making hand sanitizer since receiving federal approval to manufacture ethanol in April 2020.
