UNIONDALE, NY — A man was arrested Saturday night after police say he attacked bouncers at a Uniondale bar with a knife.
According to police, a 39-year-old man working as a bouncer at Fuego Picante Bar, located at 913 Front St. in Uniondale, saw a man in the bar armed with a knife.
Police say the bouncer told the man — Jose Angel Chirino, 42, of Hempstead — that he was not allowed to have the knife in the bar. Chirino refused to leave the bar, police say, and a fight began.
A second bouncer, a 31-year-old man, came to help. Police say Chirino slashed him on the arm with the knife. The two bouncers were eventually able to detain Chirino until police arrived and arrested him.
The injured bouncer was taken to a hospital for treatment of his wound.
Chirino was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned on Sunday in First District Court in Hempstead and held on $2,500 cash bail, which was not posted.
