Description

Join us for our 1st Annual Kwanzaa Celebration and celebrate the African-American community and its culture, heritage, and values with us. The Black Coalition of Hernando County is proud to present our 1st annual Kwanzaa Celebration on December 19, 2020. Kwanzaa is a holiday that was created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, professor, and chair of African Studies at California State University, to study and celebrate the African-American community and its culture, heritage, and values. Together we will learn about the seven principles of Kwanzaa, partake in enriching activities, and reflect on the history of Kwanzaa. This event is free and open to the public. If you plan on attending, please register for your free Eventbrite ticket so that we can keep track of our crowd size for the health and safety of all of our loved ones this holiday season. We will be practicing social distancing and safety protocol for the safety and enjoyment of all in attendance. If you're feeling under the weather, please stay home and come back and see us next year for the safety of all of our loved ones this holiday season.
