Description
GAITHERSBURG, MD — Gaithersburg voters will have the opportunity to elect a new mayor and two city councilors at the Nov. 2 election this year. There are two candidates up for mayor: incumbent Jud Ashman and newcomer Stephen J. Escobar. Ashman said that some of the most vital areas of importance in Gaithersburg are revitalizing Old Towne, areas along 355 and Lakeforest Mall. He's said the biggest difference between himself and Escobar is the experience he's had as the mayor since 2014. Escobar says that the most pressing issue is transparency in the city's government, and pledged to get the city in compliance with the Maryland State Ethics Commission requirements.
