PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — A three-term lawmaker from Prince George's County has announced he will run for state attorney general next year. U.S. Rep. Anthony G. Brown stated in a press release Monday that he would "fight for progress, fight for justice and fight for all Marylanders" as attorney general. Maryland's current attorney general, 75-year-old Brian E. Frosh (D), said he will not run for re-election next year. So far, Brown has drummed up support from the likes of Prince George's County Attorney Aisha Braveboy (D), retired Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge and civil rights lawyer William H. "Billy" Murphy Jr., retired U.S. District Court Judge Alexander Williams Jr. and Somerset Mayor Jeffrey Slavin. A former two-term lieutenant governor and state legislator, Brown represents portions of Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties in the U.S. House.
