No Charges Filed In Houston Abandoned Children Case

HOUSTON, TX — The mother of three children who were found abandoned along with a dead sibling and her boyfriend were released Monday after being detained and questioned by Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators, police said. No charges have been filed, but the investigation is still open, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a tweet. Texas Child Protective Services is assisting with the children, he added. The children, boys ranging from 7 to 15 years old, were found abandoned Sunday afternoon at an apartment complex in west Houston. Live in Houston? Skeletal remains of what the brothers said was their 9-year-old brother were found in the apartment. The oldest told authorities his parents hadn't lived there for several months, according to police. The children were living in "deplorable conditions," Gonzalez said at a news conference Sunday. There are no new developments this morning regarding the scene on Green Crest. Mother and her boyfriend were located, interviewed and released. CPS is assisting with the children.
