HOUSTON, TX — The mother of three children who were found abandoned along with a dead sibling and her boyfriend were released Monday after being detained and questioned by Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators, police said.
No charges have been filed, but the investigation is still open, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said in a tweet. Texas Child Protective Services is assisting with the children, he added.
The children, boys ranging from 7 to 15 years old, were found abandoned Sunday afternoon at an apartment complex in west Houston.

The children were living in "deplorable conditions," Gonzalez said at a news conference Sunday.
