Here are the top stories in Des Moines today: The wife of the Des Moines school district's superintendent is raising eyebrows with her $400 donation to a local school board candidate's campaign. School board experts and government watchdogs say the donation Jami Bassman Ahart made is legal, but it raises ethical questions because the school board will be making decisions about Superintendent Tom Ahart's future employment. Bassman Ahart reportedly donated to Shelley Skuster's campaign because she believes they share the same values because both women adopted their children, who attend schools in the district. (KCRG)Black Friday is one of the biggest shopping days of the year. Yet, with ongoing global supply chain issues, it could be hard to get those popular items many have been waiting for all year. Jordan Creek Mall, Southridge Mall, and Valley West Mall will all be closed for Thanksgiving and open that Friday. The Outlets of Des Moines will kick off the holiday shopping season on Thanksgiving night.
