Join Bob Altman for the final season of Bird Banding at CREW. What will you be doing? Setting up and taking down bird mist nets, walking briskly or running through a tall, grassy field to drive birds into nets for capture and work-up, data recording. Possibly holding birds once work-up is complete (at the discretion of Bob Altman). Location TBD (location given is the Collier County Fairgrounds close to the projects so you can gauge your distance.) Once registered and closer to the event date, we will email you directions to the exact location - some are in North Gargiulo and some are in South Gargiulo. Arrive at 6:30am and bring a headlamp or flashlight. Requirements for Participants: *Wearing a face covering and social distancing is required while participating in CREW Trust Programs.* If you choose not to wear a face covering while on a CREW Trust program, you will be asked to leave the group and hike the trails on your own. As requirements change we will update you via email. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, follow these guidelines from the CDC: Stay home if you don’t feel well, have been diagnosed with COVID-19, if you are waiting for COVID-19 test results, or may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 (within 14 days). Maintain a distance of at least 6 feet or more from people who don’t live in your household. Covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or the inside of the elbow. Soap and water are not available on the CREW trails, instead bring hand sanitizer to use that contains at least 60% alcohol and rub hands together until dry. Avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. Masks should not be placed on: - Anyone who has trouble breathing - Children under age 2 - Anyone who is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the cloth face covering without assistance Duration of capture event: Approximately 3 hours. Target Bird Species: grasshopper, swamp, and savannah sparrows. Non-Target Bird Species: palm warblers, house wrens, common yellowthroats, eastern meadowlarks, yellow-rumped warblers, and tree swallows. FAQ Is there an age limit for the event? This seminar is for adults 18 and over. Can I bring my dog? Dogs are not invited on this seminar unless they are a service animal.  What are the parking/facilities like at the trails? There is a grass parking area. Directions will be given closer to the event. What should I wear/bring? Comfortable shoes that can get wet, long pants, long-sleeves (without front buttons). Pants and shoes will get wet from morning dew, so you may want to bring a change of clothes. Bring water and a snack. Is my registration/ticket transferrable? Yes. You may give your spot to someone else. Be sure to change the information on your registration page accessed through your confirmation email. Can I update my registration information? Yes, you may update your registration information up to 24 hours before the event. Do I have to bring a printed ticket to the event? No. We do not issue print tickets. Simply check in with the event leader at the time of the event. Can I cancel my ticket(s)? You may cancel your ticket(s) up to 72 hours prior to the event.
