Description

PALM DESERT, CA — A portion of the CV Link in Palm Desert has been completed, and the milestone was celebrated over the weekend. The finished CV Link stretch between Fred Waring and Magnesia Falls drives is now closed to vehicle traffic to allow pedestrians and bicyclists the ability to cruise the path without cars. Saturday evening, Palm Desert city officials and other local dignitaries celebrated the CV Link segment and the completion of San Pablo streetscape improvements with a festival and ribbon-cutting. The planned 40-mile CV Link is designed to provide an alternative for cyclists, pedestrians and slow-speed electric vehicle drivers who want to avoid Highway 111 motor-vehicle traffic. The Coachella Valley project is being built largely along the Whitewater River, and will eventually extend from Palm Springs to Coachella. Future route segments include connections to Desert Hot Springs, the eastern unincorporated communities of the Coachella Valley and the Salton Sea. The project has a cost estimate of nearly $100 million. To see a map of the CV Link project and completed segments, click here.
