MANCHESTER, NH — A motorcyclist was ejected from his Harley-Davidson on Thursday during an accident on Interstate 93 in Manchester.
New Hampshire State Police and Manchester fire and rescue teams were sent to the area between Exit 6 and the I-93 and I-293 lower split for a crash around 4 p.m. When they arrived, they found Martin Peshka III, 66, of Milford had lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected after striking a ladder in the middle of the highway. He was taken to the Elliot Hospital in Manchester with serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to Lt. Bryan Trask of Troop B.
"Through the initial investigation, it appears as though the ladder had fallen off another vehicle and landed in a manner that blocked several of the southbound lanes," he said. "The vehicle where this ladder fell from did not stop."
The two left lanes of I-93 south were closed for about an hour during cleanup.
Trask said the incident remains under investigation. In pictures submitted to news outlets, the name "Nathan" can be seen scrawled in marker on the side of the ladder.
State police are asking anyone with information to contact Trooper Matthew Wolak at [email protected] or at 603-223-3787.
