ILLINOIS — We at Patch asked readers, what is your favorite fall recipe? Your go-to fall treat? The annual autumn meal or dessert that makes your taste buds fall in love? Patch has since compiled a list of reader's favorite fall recipes to create a digital guide for all to try! Here is some of what we complied. Ingredients 3 large onions or 6 small onions sliced1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp pepper1 1/2 tsp Worcestershire Sauce2 tsp melted butter 4 cups of stock (I use beef stock)Sliced French breadsliced or shredded cheese of your choice Instructions In a slow cooker add salt, pepper, onion, butter and Worcestershire. Mix to combine, and cook on high for 6 hours, stirring occasionally. Add stock and cook an additional hour on high. Ladle into an ovenproof bowl and top with sliced French bread and your choice of cheese and broil until golden brown. About the recipe "Nothing is more comforting than a bowl of soup." Ingredients 1 bag spring salad mix 1 Granny Smith apple sliced thin 1/2 cup red grapes halved1/2 cup pecans blue/goat/feta cheese (to taste )thin sliced red onion (to taste)cubed cooked chicken (optional)dressing 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar 1/4 cup olive oil half teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper Instructions Combine salad mix, apples, grapes, pecans, cheese, onion and chicken in a bowl. For the dressing, whisk vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper. Then dress your salad and enjoy! About the recipe "Apples on a salad take it to another level." Ingredients 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 1/4 cup Graham cracker crumbs3/4 cup Brown sugar1 1/2 sticks melted butter 1/4 cup sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 2 cups peeled diced apples1/2 cup powdered sugar 1 tbs milk Instructions Combine flour, graham cracker crumbs, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, butter, sugar and cinnamon and a large bowl until well combined, reserve one cup on the side. Press the remaining into the bottom of a 13 x 9 pan lined with parchment paper. Bake at 350° for eight minutes. While the crust bakes, combine apples and 1/4 cup of brown sugar until the sugar has dissolved. Once the crust is done baking, spoon the apples over top and sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture over the apples. Bake at 350° for an additional 30 minutes until the apples are tender. Slice into your desired size bar while still hot and let cool completely. Combine powdered sugar and milk to form the glaze and drizzle on top of cooled bars and enjoy! Ingredients 4 cups milk1/2 cup cornstarch dissolved in 1/2 cup water1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup sugar or to taste Instructions Add milk and dissolved corn starch to a large pot (be sure to add the cornstarch mixture to the milk while it's still cold) add vanilla and sugar. Constantly whisk until mixture gets hot and thick over medium high heat. Put in your serving bowls and top with cinnamon, nuts, coconut or eat it plain! It tastes great warm and cold! Perfect treat for a cold fall or winter day! About the recipe "It's a great way to use up excess milk." Ingredients 12 ounce bag chocolate chips (any flavor) 1tsp vanilla2 cups heavy whipping cream 5 cups milk Instructions Add all ingredients to the crock pot and stir to combine set crock pot to low for 2 to 2 1/2 hours and stir every 30 minutes Coco is ready once chocolate is fully melted and combined. About the recipe You can use any flavor of chocolate chips to have different flavors of hot chocolate! Cinnamon Dolce Syrup Submitted by Patch Editor Amie Schaenzer Ingredients 3/4 cup white granulated sugar1/4 cup brown sugar1/2 cup water1 teaspoon cinnamon Instructions 1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients. Bring to a soft-boil and cook until the sugar dissolves, stirring the entire time.2. Transfer to a heat-proof container to cool to room-temperature. Store in fridge until ready to use.3. I like to heat up a mix of almond milk and a tsp of the syrup and add it to coffee or cold brew.
