Description
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we want to make sure everyone impacted by Breast Cancer knows that we want to do something about it. When we consider that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer at some point in their life "everyone impacted" is, well, everyone. While 80% of breast cancer patients are women, this disease wages war on families, especially with it's strong genetic predisposition. Nope. Not any longer. We need to find a better way. The good news is that the mortality rate from Breast Cancer has declined by 40% in the last 25 years. YESSSS!!! With advancements in care, a real possibility exists that we can cure this disease (I repeat, that affects everyone) in the next 25 years. All it's going to take is MONEY. So, we at the FitGive Movement would like to facilitate some GIVING! First up, how about some shopping? The FitGive store has gone PINK for October. Follow the link below to purchase some PINK gear. The Warriors, Survivors, and Thrivers in your life will feel seen, understood, and supported. You will look cool and feel great for donating to the Young Survival Coalition, who lend much needed support and education to women under 40 who are diagnosed with Breast Cancer. They often face fertility issues, body image issues, and early menopause. They deserve special treatment. https://mw-store.spiritsale.com/products?category=categories%2Ffitgive Not a shopper? Ok, how about food and drink? Kama Bistro in La Grange serves up the most authentic, delicious, and satisfying Indian Food in the area. Whether you carry-out or dine- in their beautiful restaurant space, use code KAMAPINK and 10% of your bill will be donated to the Young Survival Coalition. We love Kama Bistro because we can find healthy, organic options, tailored to our dietary needs, in a gorgeous setting, with impeccable service. Maybe not quite as healthy are Agnes' special concoctions - don't leave without one of her famous cocktails! KAMAPINK expires at the end of October, so visit their website today to order or make a reservation! https://www.kamabistro.com Last, but not least, how about a heart-pumpin', high-fivin', good time? Join us on Sat., Oct. 30 at 9AM in Gordon Park for Positively - PINK! We've partnered with Lisa D Yoga + Fit to bring you a one-hour, outdoor, group fitness experience to raise awareness and funds for the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation. They fund local research for a global impact. This workout has been planned with everyone in mind - all ages, body types, and fitness levels. Post workout refreshments provided by Body Armor and Sara Goggin Young - Power to Believe. Athleta will be there with some more ways to donate and WIN prizes! Thanks to our sponsors AlphaGraphics La Grange and Deirdre Rudich of d'Aprile Properties. Please bring a yoga mat and wear PINK! We'll take care of the rest. Suggested donation is $50 but follow the link and any donation will register you for this class. This is a morning that is guaranteed to become a fond memory. https://lynnsage.org/positively-pink-brought-to-you-by-the-fitgive-movement/ Thank you for considering taking part in any or all of these giving options. We all know a Breast Cancer Warrior, Survivor, or Thriver. We owe it to them, to our families, and to generations to come to find better treatment options. Those that came before us did just that. It's our turn...let's show 'em what we got!
