Good morning, Los Angeles! I'm Sean Peek, filling in for your usual curator Paige this week. Please note that during this period your newsletters might be lighter than usual. Now, onto everything you need to know, in 5 minutes or less. First, today's weather: Mostly sunny and cool. High: 68 Low: 54. Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles: All Greek life activities on the University of Southern California campus were canceled amid drugging allegations. The USC Interfraternity Council has called a halt to all social activities at campus fraternities after the Department of Public Safety announced it received not only allegations of sexual abuse and drugs being slipped into drinks during parties at Sigma Nu fraternity. (FOX 11 Los Angeles)An eight-story apartment complex with 411 units is planned for a parking lot in Chinatown. Developer TRJLA filed plans with the city of Los Angeles for the apartment complex last week, according to Urbanize. The development site is just under two acres at 717-759 N. Hill Street, north of Downtown L.A. (The Real Deal)A wrongful death lawsuit stemming from a fatal collision between a Metro bus and a 13-year-old girl on her bicycle heads to trial this week in California state court, and the proceedings will be webcast gavel-to-gavel by Courtroom View Network. The lawsuit blames the accident on the driver's supposed negligence while operating the bus, but the defense argues there was no reasonable way for her to avoid colliding with Ciara's bike after it entered the intersection at Pacific Coast Highway and Knobb Hill Avenue. (CVN)A Filipino "Fyre Fest-like" food event that never happened in San Pedro ignites anger and unanswered questions in L.A.'s Fil-Am community. FAHMFest, a two-day celebration of Filipino culture promising over 50 food vendors and multiple musical acts over the Oct. 16 to 17 weekend in San Pedro, left dozens of attendees stranded as they arrived to find an empty parking lot. The festival and its website seemingly zapped off the face of the earth without warning. (L.A. TACO )Demand for L.A. industrial real estate is at an all-time high. With the persistent surge in e-commerce and continued distress in the supply chain, the industrial real estate market in Greater Los Angeles saw asking rates hit another record high and vacancy rates match an all-time low in the third quarter. Industrial asking lease rates in Greater L.A. averaged $1.08 per square foot per month in Q3 β up 9% from Q2 and nearly 19% year-over-year, and marking the highest average asking lease rate yet.
