LEVITTOWN, PA — For the first time in more than 18 months, the Bristol Township School District's Family Nights will soon resume to taking place in-person. District officials announced Monday that the Family Night event that takes place the first Wednesday of every month will take place next week. The events are meant to focus on family well-being and are hosted by the Family to Family initiative, a cooperative Bucks County program of the county's children and youth services department and the Family Service Association of Bucks County. November's Family Night event, "Praising Children" will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Nov. 3 at Brookwood Elementary School. Family Night is a free evening complete with a parent/educator- led discussion about using positive praise as a discipline technique, supervised children's activities and an engaging parent-child craft to make and take home. The event is the first to be held in-person since the coronavirus pandemic began last March. The November Family Night will also feature a Thanksgiving theme for story time and crafts, organizers said. "Family Nights are designed to promote parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being. Our parent educators provide families with skills and resources to strengthen families," Rachel Minton, M.Ed., Family Strengthening Program Coordinator at Family Service said in a news release. "We are excited to be back in person making connections with families in Bucks County." Upcoming family nights for BTSD include: December 1, 2021 – Instilling Morals and Values January 5, 2022 – Teaching Empathy February 2, 2022 – Meeting Our Needs and the Needs of our Children Wednesday March 2, 2022 – Keeping Our Kids Safe Wednesday, April 6, 2022 – Giving Children Responsibility Families are also encouraged to mark their calendars for Family Fest on May 4, 2022. The annual event is a culmination of all Family Nights with 10 to 50 resources and organizations present throughout the county as well as books and games, organizers said. Family Service also holds Family Nights the second Tuesday of every month for the Quakertown School District. For more information, visit https://www.fsabc.org/.
