LIVERMORE, CA — The 27th annual Livermore Valley Wine Auction last month raised $275,000 thanks to the generosity of 275 guests.
More than $80,000 of proceeds will benefit a new Livermore Shakespeare program for seventh graders, according to the Livermore Valley Winegrowers Foundation, which organizes the event each year for programs that serve local children. The students were on hand to sing songs.
Proceeds also benefited the following organizations, according to the foundation.
CALICO, a San Leandro nonprofit that serves abused children.Exceptional Needs Network, a Livermore nonprofit that serves special needs children in Tri-Valley.Reins in Motion, a Livermore nonprofit that provides equestrian therapy for special needs children. The outdoor event featured 17 Livermore Valley winemakers and a live auction that raised $81,000. Prizes included a barbecue and winemaker jam session, and a private barn dance with limousine transportation, bluegrass music and catered lunch at a Sierra Foothills ranch.
