Here are the top stories in Atlanta today: According to recently released 2020 Census data, the Hispanic population has grown by double digits in all 11 counties comprising the Atlanta region. While growth is down some from previous decades, the Hispanic population still surged by 31 percent between 2010 and 2020. Additionally, the Hispanic population grew more rapidly than all other ethnic or racial groups other than Asians, which increased 55 percent in the last decade. The Black population in the area increased by 19 percent, while white residents in the 11 counties fell by 2 percent, the first drop seen in a 10-year span. (Atlanta Regional Commission) The Atlanta Braves will play Game 1 in the World Series tonight against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Game time is 8:09 p.m. Game 2 will also be in Houston, with the Braves heading to Atlanta's Truist Park Friday and Saturday for Games 3 and 4. Game 5, if played, is scheduled in Atlanta. The remaining two games, if necessary in the best-of-seven series, will be played in Houston. Tickets for World Series home games in Atlanta go on sale to the general public today. Go Braves! (WSB-TV) The Embassy Suites Atlanta Midtown, located in Atlantic Station at 290 17th Street NW, has been acquired by Certares Management LLC, a leading investment specialist in the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors. In addition to the 181 key, new-build Embassy Suites, the deal also includes acquisition of an adjacent land parcel and an income-producing parking component. The all-suites hotel is adjacent to Microsoft's new eastern U.S. headquarters and near Georgia Tech's main Atlanta campus. It will be operated by HEI Hotels & Resorts, a leading hospitality management company that owns and/or operates 84 hotels and resorts throughout the United States. (WRDW-TV)An Atlanta pharmacy has agreed to pay $4.6 million to settle False Claims Act allegations concerning compound medications. Curant, Inc., which owns pharmacies in Smyrna and St. Petersburg, Fla., along with its owners and related entities, agreed to the $4.6 million payment to resolve allegations that include charging the government much higher prices than the "usual and customary" prices offered to other patients, violations of the False Claims Act. "Pharmacies cannot overcharge government healthcare programs while offering cheaper prices to others, in violation of their payor agreements," said Acting U.S. Attorney Kurt Erskine. "Such actions undermine efforts to protect government healthcare plans and keep costs lower." (The Atlanta Voice)The Hammonds House Museum, a museum for African-American fine art, will offer "Exhibiting Culture: Highlights from the Hammonds House Museum Collection" through January 2022. The collection, featuring artwork from some of the world's premiere African-American artists, will be displayed in the museum located in an 1857 Victorian house at 503 Peeples Street SW in Atlanta's West End neighborhood.
