Needing compassionate Hospice Volunteers

Description

Our volunteers can sit with our patients and give caregivers the time away they need. They can also keep our patients company while they are there. One of my favorite things about being a Volunteer Coordinator, beyond getting to help families every day, is to hear the stories from the volunteers about the beautiful relationships that develop between them, the families, and patients. Many volunteers do what they do because they want to give back and help others. However, many times the patients and families wind up blessing and teaching the volunteers a thing or two. Volunteers become part of the family. A few of our volunteers even help with yard work or simple things around our patient’s home. We also send volunteers into nursing homes to visit with residents and play games like Bingo. Playing games for an hour with the residents is such a small commitment for the volunteer, but I promise that hour is the highlight of those residents’ day. The last kind of opportunity we offer our volunteers is helping in our local office. If you enjoy doing office work, volunteers can help with many tasks in the office. What I like best about our volunteer program is that we have so many kinds of opportunities. No matter your personality or your availability, we can find something for you. We absolutely work around your schedule. We gladly accept any help you are willing to give.
