Nourse Farms, Inc. is looking for a responsible Truck Driver to transport loads for the farm. This position also includes performing a variety of duties on the farm. Experience driving a flatbed truck (24’ body), and a full-size Box Truck or larger is required. Must pass DOT physical screening. Class B License preferred but not necessary. This is a seasonal, weather dependent position which is expected to run from mid to late October through snow or frost (likely around December 10th) and will pick up again from mid-March through mid- April. Schedule will vary based on weather and availability of loads. Responsibilities: • Load and unload heavy items manually with a pallet jack; • Safely load, unload and secure cargo; • Prepare, inspect and operate various farm vehicles ranging in size from a 12 passenger van to a flatbed truck; • Follow routes as directed. Skills • Safety minded in all aspects of job; • Valid Driver's license – class B license preferred but not required; • Able to ascend and descend multiple-rung ladder • Able to frequently bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and/or crouch • Able to work at elevated height of 72” above the ground while assembling and disassembling strap, ties, ratchets, nuts, bolts, and other securing or fastening equipment • Able to work at lowered height of 6” above the ground while assembling and disassembling strap, ties, ratchets, nuts, bolts, and other securing or fastening equipment • Able to position blocks and ties, straps/chains and binders for cargo securement. • Ability to operate in a constant state of alertness, and safe manner. • 1 year of verifiable experience driving heavy duty vehicles and experience tying down loads; • Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations; • High school degree or equivalent; • Reliable transportation; • Ability to work alone and concentrate • Patience and a polite attitude towards other road users • Bilingual a plus, but not necessary • Physical ability to carry out tasks of job (including the cross-training program) which will require employee to lift and transfer up to 65 lbs., carry at least 30 lbs. the length of the truck bed, have physical stamina, and work in all weather.
