Riveros’ new CD titled ‘Latin Side of Wes Montgomery’ was released on February 5th on ZOHO Music. Nelson took several of the guitarists’ compositions and arranged them in different Latin and Caribbean rhythms creating a new fresh sound on Wes’ music. In making this terrific album Riveros wanted to collaborate with the very best musicians: Hector Martignon(piano), a two-time Grammy nominee. Grammy winner MarkWalker (drums); AndyMcKee (bass) and Jonathan Gomez (percussion). Throughout we can hear the band playing together as one, channeling the fluidness and virtuosity one hears on Wes’ recordings. Tony Cintrón - Drums: Tony Is a Puerto Rican American originally from the Bronx, Tony Cintrón was raised as an inquisitive young musician in th culturally diverse city of Mt. Vernon, NY. Developing an innate ability to perform on drums or percussion with equal skill, Tony was often jamming, gigging, and subsequently recording and touring with adept musicians from numerous genres. Even UNLIMITED TOUCH represented a unique “post-disco” hybrid that appealed to his rhythmic sensibilities. The most outgoing personality of the group, Tony first “recognized” the guys approaching a New York City street corner one fateful night as Crown Heights Affair; who later took an interest in producing the young upstart group now being honored tonight. Tony has been on stages and in studios around the world with such diverse artists as Tom Browne, Roberta Flack, Herb Alpert, Phyllis Hyman, Noel Pointer, Spyro Gyra, Willie Colón, Ruben Blades, and as of late, Grammy-Award winning DJ-Producer Louie Vega with his “Elements of Life” Band. Tony also had a Grammy Nomination for his drumming contributions on jazz legend Dizzy Gillespie’s album featuring Stevie Wonder called “Closer To The Source”. Dan Asher -Bass: Dan Asher has been busy performing and teaching in the New York area since 2001. His active schedule has included performances at legendary venues such as Birdland, the Blue Note, Smalls, and the 55 Bar, covering a wide range of music, mainly Rock, R&B, Jazz, and what some people might call “fusion”. He works with numerous singers and songwriters, performing at venues such as Rockwood Music Hall, The Living Room, and The Bowery Poetry Club, which showcase some of the greatest up-and-coming talents in New York City. As an in-demand sideman, he performs and records regularly with projects involving members of Screaming Headless Torsos, Snarky Puppy, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and many others, while also keeping active in NYC’s unparalleled musical theater community. A regular performer at the world-famous Baz Bar in St. Barth, he has performed most recently with Jimmy Buffett as well as legendary keyboardists David Bryan and Jay Oliver. He currently lives in the Bronx and continues to rack up as busy a schedule as possible, wearing out brake pads, blowing head gaskets, napping at highway rest stops, and somehow always coming to the conclusion that it’s all worth it.
