Looking for a calmer dog good with cats and kids

I am not terribly picky on breed just no hounds please. Housebroken would be best but I can train them if needed. I'm leaning more towards a medium breed but will consider others. I do not have any other dogs but there are plenty in the neighborhood so dog friendly too please. I need a cuddly pup too. I have anxiety issues and I've found that the dogs at work help alot. I work at as a Vet Tech and love my job! There are alot of trails around here too that I would love to go on with a companion. A well behaved dog could even come to work with me! I can afford a rehoming fee and I am applying for a couple dogs on petfinder too in case I can't find a companion here.
